25th- K-5 Family STEM Night 6-8pm MAP Testing for our class: Jan. 30th and Feb. 1st Our lessons will continue this week as follows: This week in ELA: Comprehension: Author's Purpose (PIE); Questioning Strategies to promote understanding while reading, Understanding idioms Phonic Awareness: Substituting final phonemes Writing: Animal Fantasy Listening and Speaking: Making Introductions In Math, the students will: Practice 2-digit subtraction with and without regrouping. Record 2-digit subtraction using the standard algorithm. Rewrite horizontal subtraction problems vertically in the standard algorithm format. Solve problems involving 2-digit subtraction by using the strategy draw a diagram. In Social Studies, The students will explore the theme of helping others. They will understand and identify how and when support from other can help with creative ideas. In STEM, We will continue to complete our STEM kits. This week we will focus on designing a car that will travel the farthest distance when launched with an elastic band. Reminders: Your child should be writing down their homework each day (from the board) in their Agenda. They will have Speller's Choice, Reading Log, and usually and Math practice sheet. On some nights they may have an ELA practice sheet. Homework should be turned in Tuesday-Friday mornings unless there is a special circumstance. The Reading Log should be completed throughout the week and turned in on Friday. Homework is worth 10 points for the week in ELA and 10 points in Math.
