In order to lessen this effect, I have included some activities and routines that will help ensure your child stays sharp and still enjoys having fun over their break. 1. Try to keep your child's bedtime and waking up time as close to normal as possible. 2. Have them write in a journal and record exciting things that happen throughout the day or week. Have them vary the journal entries to include letters to friends/family, lists, charts, diagrams, poems, and stories. 3. Make trips to the library and allow them to explore books that interest them. Series books seem to be very popular with them! To strengthen comprehension skills, ask them questions about what they are reading: describe the characters and setting, most importanly WHY and HOW events occur and change throughout the story. 4. Make technology work for them. Khan Academy is a tremendous resource for strengthening weak maths skills and enhancing advanced math skills. Once you log into the website, you can set up MAP test Practice geared toward your childs needs Click on the button below for Khan Academy. 5. Enjoy your Summer Break!!!
